Smart precast pavement and structural solutions at S19-Rzeszów to Babica- highway
This demo site showcases the potential for innovative road elements in a service road in the S19 highway project Rzeszów to Babica, Poland.
These include two generatively designed precast sustainable smart beams for an underpass for wildlife, and slabs for smart precast geopolymer solution for rigid road pavements made of an industry-friendly geopolymer concrete.
These slabs integrate an innovative system for optimally managing transport infrastructure in real-time.
The project will demonstrate and validate :
- Geopolymer mixtures (LIAISON aims at extending their use, against cement based) and a new modular rigid pavement.
- Performance-based design models and manufacturing techniques (i.e. additive and subtractive manufacturing) with the aim to substantially reduce the consumption of materials in construction and maintenance activities.
- Enhanced modular construction, maintenance and decommissioning interventions able to reduce life cycle cost (LCC) by at least 30%.
- Constructability of the industrialised construction (integrating 3D printing, digital twins and SHM/WIM systems) of structural elements for real tailored solutions such an underpass for wildlife.
