Digital Twin for energy optimisation at Mamariga tunnel

This demo site is in the Mamariga tunnel operated by Bizkaia Connected Corridor in Bizkaia (BCC). The validation will be scheduled after the maintenance works.

The demo site will showcase potential for continuous improvement over the existing maintenance programmes, with optimisation of energy use and energy saving. The results will be correlated with other available indices and information to replicate the potential results.

Demonstration and validation of:

• Intelligent tunnel lighting control system based on real-time external luminance and traffic flow that will allow its advanced maintenance management.
  • Optimisation of energy use for lighting service.
• Adaptive control system for tunnel fans through frequency-variable motor control (FVMC).
  • Reduction in tunnel ventilation system consumption by 40% and 20% energy savings compared to traditional systems.
