On Thursday 5 February 2026, the Torroja Lecture Hall of the Eduardo Torroja Institute of Construction Sciences hosted a Torroja Seminar dedicated to innovative and sustainable construction materials, showcasing some solutions developed within the framework of the LIAISON project.

Titled “Geopolymers and High-Performance Concrete: Two Innovative and Sustainable Alternatives in Construction”, the seminar brought together Spanish researchers and scientists to discuss new approaches to reducing the environmental impact of infrastructure while maintaining high technical performance.

The speakers, José Vera Agulló, PhD, and Rafael Ruiz Maestre, PhD, from ACCIONA, presented two strategies developed by the company’s Innovation Department, and the work carried out within LIAISON on geopolymer concrete, showcasing the prefabricated modular paving slabs installed in the Demo 2 in Toledo, Spain.

The seminar (in Spanish) has been recorded and is also accessible online on YouTube, enabling wider participation from the LIAISON community and other interested professionals.
